So what is all this about success and mindset and does it really work?
So one of my passions in life has been personal development as is the case with many with aspirations and business goals…
Now I must say there are much hype and many gurus out there with certain ideas, but there are basic truths and fundamental laws to success that include areas of mindset, goal setting, mentoring and training…
Once understood and applied on a consistent basis this can definitely have a powerful impact on your results…
it does take time and a lot of hard work and we have to work out how this applies to us individually, how we tailor it to our personality and work through each our personal situations…
One of the first books I ever read on this area is in the top 50 classic best-sellers of self-help called “psycho-cybernetics” which delves into the state of mind and how we can set it for success…
So let’s take a look and dig out some of the gold in this book which has changed many peoples lives…
Now, what we believe about our self, has a major impact on what we achieve. Not believing the full truth or certain limiting beliefs may hold one back in various areas of life. Beliefs about oneself that can be completely incongruent with reality which then becomes a reality because we believe them and project that thought onto the movie screen of our life.
One’s inner monologue, self-talk, our internal voice is a powerful thing which sends signals to the hardware of our mind and body shaping our entire life.
Dr Maxwell malts a graduate of Columbia University College of physicians and surgeons, with a doctorate in medicine who worked as a surgeon dealt with this topic in his book “psycho-cybernetics”. His views on a person’s self-image were that the individual must have a positive belief before setting goals otherwise the person would meet the mental obstacles of limiting believes resulting in efforts ending in the majority of failure.
His literary works in this field have subsequently influenced many of the personal development teachers and you can find his work recommended amongst their’s in the book “50 self-help classics”. He stated that “the ‘self-image’ is the key to human personality and human behaviour. Change the self-image and you change the personality and behaviour”.
So we must be on guard from the various negative inputs from family, friends, school, media, and entertainments that contains toxic thoughts, false perspectives, limiting believes and general all-round awe-inspiring negativity.
The data demonstrates we can switch negative thoughts to positive
With what we have discovered with the scientific data on the subject of the heart, is that the centre of our composition effectively is stationed in the heart and that the heart is not just the engine but a control office as well.
So the wires of our thoughts are plugged into the heart and what we believe powers the electrical currents of our inner voice/thoughts.
Dr Carolin leaf is a cognitive neuroscientist with a PhD in communication pathology and a bcc in logopedics and audiology, specialising in metacognitive and cognitive neuropsychology whose work revolves around the mind-brain connection, She states in her book “Who switched off my brain” that we can establish neurological pathways in the brain that are directly connected to our thoughts.
We can cause the fibres of the Neurological pathways in our brain to become toxic with negative thinking and in turn, we can also detox them as well with positive thinking patterns.
So this starts with identifying negative thoughts and replacing them with positive thoughts and thus a positive image of our self at the core of one’s being. Setting our heart’s inner voice/thinking in a positive direction and rearranging ones psychological wiring in a constructive framework which acts as a strong healthy blueprint for our movements in life.
Well there’s a good idea, easier said than done I think but not an impossibility. So by an act of our will changing our thought patterns and emotional energy, this in-turn will frame a healthier speech and an internal interaction with ourselves and external interaction with others.
As the wise King Solomon once said, ‘Gaurd your heart for out of it flow the issues of life’. This, our heart is one of the most important areas we must manage as it really lays the foundation on which all our thoughts and actions stand.
Rewire the circuitry of your biological computer for successful results
So the electromagnetic signals of thought which the heart transmits do not just form ones thinking but can affect our physical body to the extent that the negative frequency of bitterness, anger, hate, fear and stress etc… can corrupt not just ones internal qualities of a “soul/psyche” (Spiritual software) but the region of the body (our biological computer).
Good old Solomon said that “A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones”. So it is vital to manage our heart keep it resonating on a positive frequency, Keeping our selves on a virtuous track and not getting trapped in various vices.
So the point at hand which is very interesting and being acknowledged slowly is that Psychosomatic illnesses and bodily ailments are caused to a large degree by mental and emotional problems. The psychological factors of mental and emotional (Internal software) can directly affect and be the root cause of a lot of physical maladies.
A strong physical heart is the life of the body because it pumps the blood supply with oxygen and nutrients to every part of the body. So keeping a clean state of heart in thought/emotions (configuration of internal software) impacts the psyche and reduces various stresses and chemical releases that harm the physical hardware of our body.
The effect of thought on our health and achieving our goals
The Noetic Institute states that: “While it is recognised that these afferent signals, or signals that flow to the brain, have a regulatory influence on many aspects of the autonomic nervous system, including most glands and organs, it is less commonly appreciated that they also have profound effects on the higher brain centres”.
Dr Caroline leaf says that 75% to 95% of illnesses are connected to and are a direct result of our thought life. She said, ” The average person has over 30,000 thoughts a day. Through an uncontrolled thought life, we create the conditions for illness; we make ourselves sick!
Research shows that fear, all on its own, triggers more than 1,400 known physical and chemical responses and activates more than 30 different hormones. There are INTELLECTUAL and MEDICAL reasons to FORGIVE! Toxic waste generated by toxic thoughts causes the following illnesses: diabetes, cancer, asthma, skin problems, and allergies to name just a few.”
So it’s vital to have a positive thought life and to forgive others, which doesn’t justify their actions, but have boundaries, holding yourself and them accountable.
The good news is that we can re-wire our thinking and thought patterns and can completely change the effect on our body.
This has a direct impact on our prosperity in all areas of life and the success in business as the most successful entrepreneurs have very good health and productive output in business. Keeping regular internal checks and managing our course is the way to enjoy life and the success that unfolds.
Plus getting out of Bed in a more positive mood are general all-round improvements.
so some basic action steps to help us on the road of success;
- Monitor your thought life and evaluate your inner monologue
- Adjust the type of thoughts onto a positive wavelength into healthy patterns
- Continually Forgive others and forgive yourself too seeking solutions to problems
- And maintain a continual present tense of management from your heart to the horizon of all you endeavour
